This is a glance at our beginnings and where we see ourselves going.
April 2011, marked the beginning of the National CFAR CAB Coalition (NCCC) although at the time we were calling our meetings Cross CFAR CAB meetings. The first meeting was held in Philadelphia, PA April 11-12, 2011 at the request of the Penn CFAR CAB. It was a two day meeting that included a getting to know you section that really highlighted the depth and breadth of diversity between 13 CFAR CABs represented from across the country and solidfied a need for communities to share best practices. The meeting also included a one day Research Protocol Review Training by FHI360 staff.
2013 marked the year we as a group branched out and started presenting community perspectives in research at the inclusion of the Social Behavorial Sciences Research Network (SBSRN) meeting held in Washington, DC that year. The NCCC began identifying community respondents for research talks at this national meeting and began conducting its on plenary at the conference.
In 2014 we formally became the National CFAR CAB Coalition (NCCC) and started the process of being recognized as one of the inter-CFAR groups. At the meeting hosted at the University of Washington the group developed an organizational structure, mission and goal. As well as developed the foundations for fundraising inaitives to support the work of the group. We also grew to 40+ members representing 15 CFARs.
We look forward to our story continuing....
